Lee lends help to fire victims

MIRI: State Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin on Saturday (Jan 2) visited the site of a fire incident that occurred at 1.30pm on the previous day at Tudan Desaras Phase 6, Miri.

The team from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Miri managed to extinguish the fire at 2.12pm.

There was no loss of life but four houses in three residential lots were razed to the ground completely.

It was said the fire started from the first residence that also housed two cars, namely a Kancil and a four-wheel drive (4WD). It spread speedily to the second house on the first lot.

Subsequently, the fire spread to the third house on the second lot then to the fourth residence on the third lot. 

All residential units were engulfed in the flame and were totally destroyed leaving nine victims homeless.

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, on behalf of Senadin Service Centre together with Miri Welfare Department handed over some welfare relief assistance to the fire victims.

Welfare Department will conduct further assessment together with Bomba Miri and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) to provide further disaster relief aids to the fire victims concerned.

Accompanying Lee on the site visit together were Bomba officials and forensic team, Penghulu Nasir Abdul Rahim, Kapitan Chong Ah Muk and Cr Misiah Abdullah.
