KUCHING: Aramaz Borneo (MM2H) Sdn Bhd has launched its Aramaz Borneo Service Centre located at Level 2 of Tun Tugah Tower here.

The launching was officiated by Minister of Tourism, Performing Arts and Creative industry Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who congratulated Aramaz Borneo on its new milestone.

He said the Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H) programme continues to receive good responses from participants all over the world who are interested in making Sarawak their second home.

“We have been blessed with a good year whereby we have surpassed the target of three million tourists and visitors coming into Sarawak. I believe the S-MM2H programme and its participants have also contributed to this achievement.

“This achievement is also contributed by the various promotion and marketing activities by agencies who are under my ministry as well as from the private sector such as travel and tour agencies. I would like to thank Aramaz Borneo for actively doing its part especially for the S-MM2H programme,” he said.

He made these remarks after launching the Aramaz Borneo Service Centre today (Dec 13).

Abdul Karim said Sarawak has emerged as the top destination for the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme with Kuching and Miri being popular cities among participants.

Besides being a peaceful and politically stable state, he said S-MM2H requirements like how each applicant is required to make a RM150,000 fixed deposit is reasonable.

“We understand that most of the applicants are those who are in their retirement age, so the RM150,000 fixed deposit requirement for each applicant under S-MM2H programme is reasonable compared to the RM1 million fixed deposit requirement under MM2H programme.

“The RM1 million fixed deposit requirement is rather steep, so we want to be different from Peninsular Malaysia and encourage more foreigners to come over to Sarawak,” he said.

At the same time, Abdul Karim encouraged other agencies and companies who are under the S-MM2H programme to emulate the Aramaz Borneo Service Centre.

“I hope that others can do something similar or perhaps set up a unit be it physically or online to assist prospective applicants who may have inquiries about the S-MM2H programme,” he said.

Meanwhile, Aramaz Borneo managing director Jonathan Eng said its one stop service centre will operate daily from 8am to 7pm.

“We are more than happy to assist those who are interested or have questions about the S-MM2H programme. We want the one stop service centre to be a place for people to gather and network with one another,” he said.
