Lorry driver’s brush with death

MIRI: A lorry driver was almost killed when the tipper-bucket of the lorry accidentally got entangled with an electric cable along the Lambir-Miri road while loading sand at the area around 5pm yesterday.

Fortunately, the 50-year-old lorry driver, identified as Wesley Sawan Kasau survived the horrific experience.

A team of firemen from the Miri fire station rushed to the scene after receiving an alert on the incident at 5pm to help douse out the fire. Following the incident, it was reported that the victim sustained 60 percent burns on his body.

He was rushed to the Miri hospital for medical treatment. During the incident, the lorry’s tyres also caught fire.
