Lun Bawang association receives RM250,000

LAWAS: The Lun Bawang Association has been granted an allocation of RM250,000 to undertake community development projects.

Lawas MP, Datuk Henry Sum Agong announced the allocation during the opening ceremony of the Irau Aco Lun Bawang Festival 2023 at Dataran Bandar Lawas on Saturday.

Henry mentioned that one of the purposes for the allocated funds is the proposed development of a spacious venue for the future Lun Bawang Festival.

In addition to this funding, he said both the Sarawak government and the federal government have approved multiple projects to advance the development of the district. Notably, the construction of a new airport is underway, with the first phase of the project already in progress. Furthermore, a port in Bukit Sari has received approval for development.

Henry also said that the construction of a road from Ba’kelalan to the Indonesian border has been given the approval, with an allocation of RM80 million.

With these developments, Lawas district is poised for progress and growth, as efforts are being made to enhance infrastructure and support community-driven initiatives.
