KUCHING: The Keluarga Malaysia concept pioneered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be a catalyst for national unity.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the spirit of togetherness fostered would contribute to the recovery of the nation from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Keluarga Malaysia concept is a catalyst for national unity under the leadership of the prime minister, for us to recover the country from the problems and effects of Covid-19.

“This must be the national ideology in fostering harmony and unity of the people regardless of ethnicity.

“The approach is appropriate in preserving harmony among Malaysians of various religions, races and cultures,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday (Sunday).

At the same time, the Santubong MP also thanked the prime minister for choosing Sarawak for the launch of the initiative.

“This showed that us in Borneo are on par with our counterparts in Peninsula Malaysia. We look forward to working together with you,” he said.

In a separate post, Wan Junaidi also thanked the prime minister for his commitment to provide the needed basic development funds to the less developed states under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“I would also like to thank the prime minister for the government’s commitment to provide 50 percent of the federal basic development allocation under the 12MP.

“These will be distributed to six less developed states including Sarawak and Sabah.

“This allocation involves the provision of basic infrastructure, digititalisation, education, healthcare services and economic development,” he said.
