Man arrested for unlicensed lottery

BAU: Police arrested a 68-year-old man on Sunday who is suspected of being involved in unlicensed public lottery betting activities.

According to Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, the arrest took place at 6.40pm in a house here at Kampung Sungai, Pinang.

Police also seized four pieces of printed white paper and a sum of cash, believed to be used for the illegal lottery sale.

The case is being investigated under Section 4A (A) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

If convicted, the offender will be fined not less than RM20,000 and not more than RM200,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years.
