MIRI: Police have arrested a 53-year-old man for allegedly molesting his own daughter multiple times.
The 14-year-old teenage girl lodged a police report against her father after the suspect entered her room last Thursday (May 6) to molest her.
The latest incident happened in their family home at Tudan Phase 1 around 1am, where the suspect allegedly molested his daughter’s body, breasts and genital area.
Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari who confirmed the case, said the latest incident was the fourth time the suspect had molested his daughter.
“The first time the suspect committed the crime was on Apr 14 this year.
“The victim had told the incident to her mother, however, she did not believe her daughter’s words,” he said.
Following the report lodged, a CID team went to the house around 1.05pm and arrested the suspect.
Hakemal said the man has been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 377CA of the Penal Code and Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
