MIRI: Marine police here arrested a local man for allegedly possessing 2,000 litres of diesel without any valid permission from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) on Tuesday (Jan 3).

According to the Sarawak Marine Police Region 5, they detained a pickup truck for inspections along Jalan Beluru-Bakong, Baram.

Inspections led to the finding of two intermediate bulk containers (IBC) on the back of the pickup truck, which were believed to be filled with 2,000 litres of diesel.

Aside from that, the driver failed to produce any documented evidence of permission to possess, store, carry controlled items without a permit, licence and special permission from the KPDNHEP.

Hence, the driver was believed to have committed an offence under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

The suspect and the seized goods were handed over to KPDNHEP Miri investigating officer for further investigation.
