Man seriously injured in attack

KUCHING: A 47-year-old man was seriously injured after a neighbour attacked him with a sharp object early yesterday morning.

The man sustained cuts on his hands and face in the attack.

Kuching police chief, ACP Awang Din Awang Gani in confirming the incident said it was caused by a misunderstanding between the neighbours over a parking space.

“After the attack, the assailant fled from the scene while the injured man was taken to Sarawak General Hospital and warded for further treatment,” he said.

Din added that the injured man is in stable condition and police are now looking for the assailant.

He also urged the public not to take the laws into their own hands and not to habour but to surrender the assailant to the police.

“It is an offence to habour a person wanted by the police. The assailant can be charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code and if convicted can face a jail sentence of up to 20 years and whipping,” he said.
