KUCHING: Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong has relinquished his position as senior vice president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). He is replaced by Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

“I have already informed Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the PBB deputy president that I will relinquish the post.

“Therefore, I will leave it to the party on who they will pick for the post because this is tradition,” he said when met by reporters at the PBB Headquarters, Jalan Bako, today (June 11).

The former Tebedu assemblyman said that the tradition of PBB is that when a member no longer holds a position, the post will automatically be given to a new person.

When asked if he is still involved in politics, Manyin said that he has retired from active politics.

“But politics is still in my heart. I’m still with PBB and supporting the party for as long as I’m still able to.

“Like in the last state election, I campaigned every night. In the next state election, God willing if I’m still physically fit I will be there campaigning,” he said, adding that he has no regrets joining politics.

He conveyed his appreciation to all the past and current leaders who have been supporting him else he would not be where he is today.

“I’m very grateful to the party as well as to all Sarawakian,” said Manyin.
