MBKS advance waste collection this Friday

KUCHING: Members of the public have been urged to take note of an advance waste collection to be held this Friday (May 31) due to the Gawai Dayak celebration, said Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk James Chan.

He said this during a press conference between MBKS, Trienekens and community leaders yesterday.

Trienekens division manager (logistics and services) Lee Ghee Seng said that the advance waste collection will be held on Friday afternoon for Saturday’s collection.

“This is the first time in 20 years that we have done an advance collection which is due to the Gawai Dayak celebration on Saturday whereby we are giving our Dayak employees a break to go back to their villages to celebrate,” he said.

Only areas that is on the Saturday’s collection schedule under MBKS are affected which are Sekama, Pending, Kenyalang, Batu Lintang, Jalan Rock, Tabuan Jaya, Muara Tabuan, Pending, Padungan, Chawan Road, Hui Sing, Jalan Sariff Masahaor, Stampin, Stutong, and Setia Raja.

Areas affected under Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) are Batu 7, Jalan Semaba, Batu Kawa Area, Batu 15, Semenggok, and Kuap Dayak while those under Serian District Council are Kampung Beratok, Kampung Tapah, Taman Harmoni, Tapah Resident, Kampung Maang, Kampung Sungai Riset, Kampung Sikuduk, Kampung Plaman Payang, and Kampung Chupak.

Lee then informed that on Friday morning, Trienekens will carry out their usual waste collection for the areas on Friday and from 12pm onwards Trienekens will carry out the advance waste collections at the affected areas above.

Chan further informed that notice flyers on the advance waste collection will be sent out to affected residents to take note of.

“I also urge residents staying in the affected areas who put their trash bin indoors to place it out on Thursday night or Friday morning in order for Trienekens to collect them.

“For any trash bins that were missed out in the advance collection, they will be collected again on Wednesday,” he said.

Lee added that on Wednesday (June 5), they will be focusing on areas under Kuching North City Commission’s (DBKU) jurisdiction due to Hari Raya but only a small portion in MBKS will have the waste collected.

The waste collection services will commence on Monday (June 3) as usual by Trienekens.
