MIRI: A compound fee up to RM200 will be imposed against those who display fishtails, banner advertisements and road signages without Miri City Council (MCC) approval.

MCC said stern action needed to be taken in view of rising complaints from the public on the matter as it caused road safety hazards, traffic obstruction and unsightliness.

“MCC will seize illegal fishtails and banner advertisements, serve compound notices to both the owners of the unauthorised advertisement materials as well as the advertisers,” it said in a statement here yesterday.

MCC said a compound fee of RM100 for each unauthorised fishtail and RM200 for each unauthorised banner will be issued to the related parties involved while for illegal road signages, the council will confiscate and may issue compound notices too.- Bernama
