DALAT: The local authority, Dalat/Mukah District Council (MDDM) recently conducted a spot check at coffee shops on Monday night.

Two premises were checked in the operation which kicked-off with the gathering of the staff of the participating agencies at the compounds of MDDM Dalat office at about 8.50pm. Among the agencies involved in the operation was the local police. Before proceeding to the identified premises, those participated in the event were briefed by MDDM Enforcement Division Head, Adam Nuraiman Hakim Abdullah.

It is learnt that the move was taken following complaints from members of public who were believed to be annoyed by the presence of other forms of entertaining items at the two premises. Nuraiman pointed that the operation was being carried out based on Section 5(1) Entertainment Ordinance 2000 of the local council.

Headed by MDDM Secretary Norhalimah Mohd Hamni, amongst the 27 personnel involved were the counselors from MDDM, Jay Kram and Moon Ulan Inal including two local reporters. The operation that ended at about 10.30pm went on smoothly though their presence surprised some of the customers at the targeted two premises.
