MUKAH: A 21-year-old mechanic was arrested for flouting the movement control order (MCO) while riding a motorcycle here last Saturday.
On April 18 at 9pm, a police team led by Insp Mohamad Haslee Sapiee spotted a man riding a motorcycle at the junction of Jalan Tutus Hulu here.
Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said the suspect failed to give a reasonable excuse to be on the road when stopped.
“He told police that he wanted to meet his girlfriend in the bazaar,” he said via WhatsApp on Sunday.
Jimmy said the case was being investigated under Section 186 Penal Code, and 11(1) Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the local infected areas) Regulation 2020.
He added the suspect was remanded for four days from April 19.
