MIRI: A total of 13 mini parks and recreational facilities in open spaces within the residential areas of Senadin constituency have been built under the local assemblyman’s Rural Transformation Programme.

Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also Sarawak Transport Minister, said that these projects costed RM1.15 million.

“Perhaps, in future we make it compulsory for housing developers to build recreational parks in residential areas,” Lee said on Saturday (Oct 2) at Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senadin office.

The plan to build more mini parks in his constituency is to promote active lifestyle amongst the communities, he opined.

The projects are currently being built in Riam, Permyjaya, Vista Perdana, Desa Senadin and Tudan.

Out of these 13, four were continuation projects from last year.

Yesterday morning, Lee was supposed to visit the construction of basketball court in Vista Perdana housing area, however due to heavy rain, the programme was cancelled.

The construction of the basketball court which cost RM100,000 is expected to complete before year end.
