KUCHING: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts wishes to see a MasterChef-influenced cooking programme focusing on Sarawak cuisine held in the state.
Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan said this is one of the ways to highlight Sarawak on the global stage.
He stated the idea came from watching the actual MasterChef programme along with other international cooking shows.
“As we know, MasterChef is one the biggest cooking shows in the world.
“So, I believe, we can come up with a cooking show similar to it (MasterChef), but it must have our own Sarawak element, and that would make it special.
“The only thing we need now is for the organisers to come up with the proposal and my Ministry will come up with the funding,” he said.
He said this iduring the launching of a Sago Incubator programme at The Hills shopping mall here on Monday (March 25).
On the programme, Snowdan stated it is a unique opportunity to harness the spirit of aspiring ‘foodprenuers’ and empowering them to realise their dreams of building sustainable and thriving businesses.

“Through a carefully crafted programme of mentorship, training, and networking, participants will acquire the skill, knowledge and support needed to turn their culinary passions into profitable enterprises.
“Sago Incubator holds the promise of social and cultural transformation.
“By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to collaborate on creative projects, we are not only fostering economic growth but also strengthening community bonds and preserving our cultural heritage for future generations,” he added.
Sago Incubator is a 10-week programme and applications for participation are open until April 17, with the programme commencing on April 29.
