KUCHING: The strong alignment on policies and practices for the wellbeing of the community in the Netherlands and Sweden is an example that will be adopted by the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development.

This aspiration was made after its minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah led the ministry’s delegates on an official visit to the Netherlands and Sweden from July 30 to Aug 5.

According to a statement issued today, the delegates gained new insights and understanding of the Netherlands and Sweden’s social security system, its evolution and basis of operation for community towards inclusive society during the visit.

It added that the learning on the experiences and exposures in best practices could be adopted and adapted into the ministry’s delivery services to the community of Sarawak from a good start on early childhood to special care for the elderly.

“The insight will add value for the ministry to develop a multi-faceted approach in improving intergenerational social wellbeing and future ready for the healthy and independent elderly since Sarawak will be an ageing society by year 2028.
