KUCHING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs will work with the relevant ministry to explore ways on how it could further assist the e-commerce entrepreneurs in the country.

Its minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi said this was to encourage more people to venture into e-commerce because doing online business is now seen as the ‘new normal’.

“We can see that with the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO), a lot of people are starting to see the high potential in online businesses,” he said.

Nanta was sharing his views on Monday night during the RTM’s Bicara Naratif programme which touched on the ministry’s role during the MCO period.

He said since the MCO, many companies had started offering their services online. In supermarkets, customers could purchase items on mobile application.

“I see many young people are very creative, and this is a good opportunity for them to start online businesses, especially when they do not have large capitals to own premises.
