MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) has extended the closure of all sections at the Miri Central Market, Jalan Brooke here.

A statement on Thursday (May 27) stated that the closure would be for another three days, from May 28 to 30, and the market would only reopen on May 31.

“This is because another stallholder had tested positive for Covid-19. Further precautionary measures have been taken and all stallholders have been issued a letter requiring them to undergo swab test.

“The market was initially closed for three days from May 25 to 27 for sanitisation and cleaning works because a customer, then a stallholder, tested positive for Covid-19.”

MCC also urged all stallholders and customers going to MCC markets and tamu to observe health safety measures.

“They need to check-in (MySejahtera) and have temperature checks before entering the premises. They should put on face mask and maintain physical distancing.”

On another note, MCC urged operators of all types of business establishments to ensure the check-in records of all entering their premises.

“They have to keep a record book for manual registration for those who do not have the MySejahtera app. This is in accordance with the standard operating procedures under the conditional movement control order.

“The council’s enforcement team will continue to inspect business premises, especially those under our jurisdiction, for compliance.”
