KUCHING: The Welfare, Health, and Community Sub-Committee of Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch recently visited two families with poor socioeconomic backgrounds at Kampung Jagus Lambir and Pujut Tanjong Batu in Miri.

In a statement, Miri MRC said the visit was to educate the family members on the dangers of plastics, importance of cleanliness and healthy food.

The subcommittee chairperson, Dr Uma Devi, also delivered a short talk on these topics during the visit.

“During the visit, the team also bought stainless-steel food containers to distribute to the two families. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic containers.

“The stainless-steel food containers were generously donated by a group of individuals and we would like to extend our gratitude to these donors for their kind contribution.

“Additionally, various items included food baskets, baby diapers, milk and clothing.”

The visit also saw a briefing by Miri City Council represenatives Dayang Mariamah and Mohd Shobri Mohamed on the services provided by the council and highlighted the process for addressing related issues.
