Missing man, 83, found safe but weak

MARUDI: An octogenarian man, Lah Ajang, 83, who mysteriously went vanished for four days since Wednesday (June 8), was found safe this morning.

Lah Ajang was reported missing on Wednesday morning while at the entrance gate of his residence in Golden Hill, Marudi.

Subsequently, a total of 70 persons including rescuers from Marudi Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and policemen  partook in the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Acting Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 Miri Senior Superintendent of Fire II Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee said the search and rescue team on the fourth day of the SAR was divided into three groups (Zone A, B and C).

“The victim was found by members of the SAR group ‘A’ around 10.15am this morning behind the Golden Hill housing residential area at a distance of 300 metres from the Fire Control post, lying on a swampy area,” he said.

He added that the victim who was found in a weak condition was brought to the Marudi Hospital for further medical treatment.
