KUCHING: Former state special branch chief SAC Mohd Hairuddin Che Hamid is the new Deputy Police Commissioner of Sarawak. He takes over from Datuk Dev Kumar M.M Sree.

Dev will be transferred to Bukit Aman Police Headquarters as Deputy Director of Intelligence/Operations of the Criminal Investigation Department; he took up the post of Deputy Police Commissioner from Datuk Pahlawan Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim in July last year.

The handover ceremony for the Deputy Police Commissioner position was witnessed by the Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Aidi Ismail at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters here today.

In his speech, Aidi thanked Dev for his service and devotion throughout his service in Sarawak.

“He has achieved many successes due to his leadership and ability in overcoming the problem of crime in the Sarawak Contingent.

“His transfer as Deputy Director of Operations/Intelligence is appropriate because of his experience in the field of criminal investigations,” he said.

Despite his short tenure as Deputy Police Commissioner of Sarawak, Dev said he was proud to have the support and cooperation of all police personnel.

“I would like to thank all the department heads, district police chiefs, as well as all levels of officers and members for the support and cooperation given to me during my time as Deputy Police Commissioner of Sarawak.

“All the services and kindness will always be remembered and embedded in my heart. I hope the same cooperation is given to SAC Mohd Hairuddin as the new Deputy Police Commissioner,” he said.
