KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) has joined the calls for controversial preacher Zakir Naik to be deported.

Its information chief William Mangor said Zakir’s open lecture which touches on other religions had created uneasiness amongst non-Muslims throughout the country.

“Zakir’s pronouncements have clearly threatened the peace and religious harmony which Malaysians have long cherished and practised. Malaysia must not allow this foreign preacher to tear us apart,” said William.

He stressed that Zakir, who is from India and is a permanent resident of Malaysia, should not be allowed to remain in the country as he has no locus standi to cast aspersions on multi religious communities in Malaysia.

“He must be deported back to India as soon as possible as he is facing terrorism and money laundering charges in his home country. Send him home to face the music in his home country and let their courts decide on the alleged crimes he committed.”
