BEKENU: More than 10 graves at the Chinese cemetery at Kampung Tengah here have been defaced and vandalised by unknown individuals.
Most of the tombstones were damaged.
Members of the public noticed the vandalism when they visited the graveyard on Saturday and immediately informed the Bekenu Chinese cemetery committee.
According to the committee spokesperson, Tan Teck Woon, a police report would be lodged over the incident.
“Several pieces of broken glasses were found on the site, believed to had been used to knock on the graves,” he said.
“We will let the police to investigate. I had no idea what happened … I am completely shocked,” he said.
