KUCHING: Eleven residents were left homeless after their double-storey house was razed to the ground at Jalan Datu Ajibah Abol here this morning.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the blaze as the tenants comprising seven men, two women and two children were not at home at the time of the incident.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Padungan and Batu Lintang stations were despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call around 9.10 am.

Upon arriving, they found that the house was beyond saving and promptly proceeded to put out the fire.

The flames were brought under control at 9.28 am and it was fully put out around 9.55 am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.

Also present at the scene were the police and Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sesco) personnel.
