MUKAH: The Mukah District Education Department in collaboration with the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) held Mukah Division Field Athletics Clinic at Mukah Stadium, here, from Aug 8 to 10.

The department hoped that through systematic coaching and training, schools in the division will be able to produce potential athletes who can excel at the state or even national levels in future.

Thirty four teachers attended the clinic which was conducted by four facilitators, namely SSC Central Region head cum athletics (field) development officer Mikar Changgan, Sarawak Sports Council (MSS) high performance manager Andre Richard, coach Thomas Ling Neng Thung, and assistant youth and sports officer (SSC/MSN high performance unit) Spancer Biondy Raymon Ramba.

The department’s sports development unit supervisor Kueh Peng Choon said the clinic had achieved 90 percent of its objectives.

It is hoped that the schools athletes will be able to deliver the results for the remaining 10 percent, he said.
“We hope the athletes will be able to perform and excel, be it at the divisional, state or even national levels” he said when officiating at the closing of the clinic.
