KUCHING: The Mulu state constituency is well into its preparations to face the upcoming state election.
Assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala paid a visit to N4 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pantai Damai service centre on Tuesday (Aug 18).
“From the briefing, I must say that they are a very efficient organisation and very well organised.
“Pantai Damai service centre is among the best and it is evident in two things. First, in terms of the result of the state election.
“For the 10th State Election (PRN10) they won with a majority of 5,000 plus for Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi. In PRN11, the majority doubled to 9,000 plus, almost a 100 per cent increase.
“Not only that, in terms of the growth of PBB membership, Pantai Damai has got the biggest among all the branches.
“So something must be right. And that’s why we made the visit to find out what is it that Pantai Damai service centre is doing in order for us to learn,” he said.
Gerawat, who is also State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker, added that based on the briefing that was given earlier by the Pantai Damai team, he understood their success and why they were ranked among the best.
“It is with that hope that my team will go back and try to apply what has been done in Pantai Damai in the hopes that we will get similar results.”
However, he said, results would vary for the two constituencies, stating that there might be some differences due to Pantai Damai being an urban constituency, while Mulu, a rural one.
“But I know the principles and the way things are organised here, this will be a great help for us.”
Asked on his overall preparedness for the upcoming state polls, he simply replied: “We are ready.”
