KOTA SAMARAHAN: An American company will be investing in Bintulu to produce medical equipment soon.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that last week, he had an engagement with the said company, which is listed on the Nasdaq (American stock exchange).

“They will be coming to invest in producing medical equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), other devices and medical products to be used in this region and that is their market.

“I asked them why they chose this place (Sarawak). They said it was because the state is stable and its people are friendly.

“At the same time, they said we have the facilities which will enable us to do research in the biomedical field,” Abang Johari said before officiating at the earth-breaking ceremony of the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC) here on Tuesday (Nov 16).

The chief minister said with such stability and facilities, he hoped that more investors would invest in Sarawak.
