KUCHING: Sarawak’s distinctive batik designs are set to adorn on Batik Air flights.

Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) commercial general manager Shahren Yusri said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the airline will formalise this venture.

“CENTEXS is excited to partner with Batik Air to showcase our unique Sarawak Batik. We anticipate signing a MoU with them within this year, God willing,” he told reporters at the launch of the Raya Series Premium by Juma’ani, attended by Premier’s wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang at Juma’ani Pavilion here today (Feb 25).

The initiative will introduce 15 new batik designs, unveiled in phases which include both printed and canting batik styles, catering to different market segments.

“For mass marketing, we’ll focus on printed batik, while the canting batik, produced in limited quantities, will be slightly more expensive. Our collection, featuring designs on cotton and silk, will gradually be launched from June,” he added.
