KUCHING: The General Operation Forces’ (GOF or PGA) 11t h Batallion personnel on Tuesday arrested 15 Indonesian nationals aged between 19 and 36 years old for smuggling of motorcycles, gas cylinders, sausages among other essential goods.
The 1030am arrest was made at the ‘jalan tikus’ (rats’ route) in Mongkos, Serian. PGA 11th Battalion chief Supt Rosdi bin Inai confirmed that the police were doing their patrolling along the area when they arrested the suspects. He said the goods bound for Indonesia were carried using gunny sacks. Seized were also 15 units of motorcycles.
Total value estimated for the smuggled items was about RM45,300. The 15 Indones ians wer e detained and to be charged under the Customs Act for not declaring the items. All the items were sent to the Customs department in Tebedu for investigation. The suspects were detained for further questioning.
