MIRI: Police detained 28 foreign women, believed to be guest relations officers (GROs) at three entertainment outlets here early yesterday.

The raid which started from midnight until 5.00am yesterday also saw 29 individuals including four women suspected of being involved in drug abuse detained by the police.

Miri District Police chief, ACP Lim Ming Saeh said the police carried out the raids on entertainment outlets in their effort rid the district of drugs and vice activities.

He said all the suspects were taken to Miri Central Police Station for further action.

“The 28 foreign women, aged between 20 and 53, will be investigated under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations, 1963 while the rest will be investigated under Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952,” he said.
