BINTULU : Some 282 students from Form One to Form Five received their certificates and awards, such as for Student Leadership, NILAM, co-curriculum, athletic achievements and Outstanding Academic awards.
The Special Student Excellence Personality awards 2017 (Male category) was won by Dominique Ak Jonathan Sawing from Form Three, whereas Ricci Oly Ting ) from Form Five won in the Female category.
Bintulu Deputy District Education officer, Yusuf Hardi,representing Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, was the guest of honour at the Excellence Awards Day 2017 ceremony of SMK Kidurong held at a leading restaurant here recently.
Tiong in his text of speech said, only quality, good and proper education can determine the success of an individual and the government has always given top priority to education to prepare the younger generation for the competitive world when they grow up as mentioned in our country’s National Transformation 2050 agenda or TN50.
He also urged students to be involved in the 1M4U volunteer programme to enhance the spirit of volunteerism among teenagers and unity among the communities. He also reminded the parents to keep an eye on their children’s outdoor activities and also to play their teaching role at home.
Parents, he added should not leave the whole teaching responsibility to teachers in school but they are the ones who can really motivate their children while they are at home.
Earlier school Principal, Rosli Salleh, in his speech elaborated on the achievements of the students both in academic and curricular activities. Among those present were Chairman of SMK Kidurong PTA, Rashid and his deputy David Clement, senior teachers, heads of department, community leaders and parents.
