Martin Ben (BN-Kedup) has suggested that activities be carried out in the Tebedu Industrial Area.

Debating on the Head of State’s address in the DUN yesterday, Martin said the existing housing area perhaps can be developed by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to be sold to local businesses and from neighbouring countries at a minimal rate.

“With this short term approach at least there are activities going on in the area and visitors, both locals and from our neigbhouring country will have reasons to go to Tebedu,” he said.

He added that with activities in Tebedu it will reduce congestion in Serian while the Pan Borneo Highway Project is being implemented.

Martin said the Tebedu Industrial Area was developed in 2005 covering 200 acres with a development allocation totaling RM65 million.

At present only the Inland Port is in operation at the area.

“At the area is a strategic location between Tebedu and Entikong, West Kalimatan, Indonesia, I am confident that the government through its agencies can attract small and medium investors to the area,” he said.

Martin also suggested that dialogues and consultations with the local government should continue so that collaboration between both sides can be created.
