KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from the organising committee members of the Golden Jubilee Bridge opening ceremony at Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya here yesterday.
The visit, led by State Secretary, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani aimed to invite Taib to grace the opening ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Bridge here on Saturday (Nov 11). Also present was Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The bridge spanning the Sarawak River will be a landmark and a tourist attraction in the city. The bridge was built to allow local residents and tourists to commute from the Kuching Waterfront to the villages, Astana Negeri and the new State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex on the other bank of the Sarawak River.
