KUCHING : Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Ber satu (PBB) Women’s Wing chief, Tan Sri Empiang Jabu and Youth Wing chief, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have decided to step down from their respective posts. This was announced by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg during a press conference after chairing the PBB meeting at the PBB Headquarters in Jalan Bako here yesterday.

“The party would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to her (Empiang) who has contributed a lot to the development of PBB, particularly the Women’s Wing. “She has set a very good example for the Women’s Wing and also has high standards.

This is the culture of PBB to give way to the young and the same applies to our Youth Wing chief (Fadillah). “We also express our similar appreciation to him who also would like to pass the baton down to the younger people,” he said.

Johari added that this time around, the next Youth chief will be from the Pesaka Wing whereas the next Women’s chief will be from the Bumiputera Wing. He said this in relation to the upcoming PBB Convention which will be held from Feb 8 to 11.

“The delegates will arrive on Feb 8, the Youth and Women Wings will have their meeting on Feb 9, and from Feb 10 until 11 will be meeting for the main body. “The convention will be officiated by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he pointed out. Meanwhile, Fadillah expressed his appreciation to the party for giving him their trust in leading the Youth Wing.

“We now have the space and opportunity to give to the young to take over because I have already given my full service with the support of all. “I am confident that under a new leadership, the Youth Wing will continue our legacy,” said Fadillah who is also the Works Minister.

As for Empiang, she hoped that the new leaders will stick to the party’s tradition and practices. “We should always work together and don’t form cliques which can divide the party. “Most importantly, respect everyone and appreciate their differences because from there we will build up our strength,” she said.
