Factory loses over RM21,000 in armed robbery

KUCHING: A security guard from Jalan Demak Laut claimed in his police report that at about 3 am last Sunday, four masked men armed with parang (machete) have gone to his work place at a factory at Demak Laut Industrial area near here.

He added that one of men then ordered him to keep quiet while the other three went to look for his colleague who was at the back of the factory. 

After the armed intruders managed to find the colleague of the guard, they were both forced to stay at a guard booth at the entrance of the factory, guarded by one of the intruders.

After taking what they wanted, the four intruders left.

After a thorough check the two security guards discovered that 50 pieces of copper pipes valued at RM7,500, copper socket valued at RM14,400 were stolen.

In a separate case, a coffee shop in Bintawa near here was broken into. The owner said the break in occurred last Sunday night where four gas cylinders were stolen.

In another case, a 62-year-old housewife at Taman Setia Jaya, BDC Stampin said her house was broken into last Friday night.

Among the items stolen from her house were her Ipad and two branded watches.

She estimated her loss to be more than RM2,000.
