Fatimah calls on State CP

KUCHING: The Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato‘ Sri Fatimah Abdullah paid a courtesy call to State Commissioner of Police Dato‘ Azman Yusof at Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), in Kuching yesterday.

During the courtesy call, Fatimah proposed the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to assist on screening personnel at Sarawak Early Childhood Education Institution with aims to protect the children from becoming victims of sexual and violent crimes.

Fatimah and delegates attended a briefing particularly on sexual offences such as rape, incest, and others, domestic violence and baby-dumping for the purpose to draft a strategic plan and to plan activities in reducing the social issues in Sarawak.

“We were also briefed about drug issues because the domestic violence is related to drug addiction.

“We thank CP Dato Azman Yusof and his PDRM team for agreeing to receive our courtesy call and provided our delegates with valuable statistics for our perusal.

“Also thanks to the Crime Investigation Department, Narcotic, Crime Prevention and Community Security Department for their full cooperation with our ministry,” she said.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development, Hajah Rosey Yunus; Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dr. Saadiah Abdul Samat; Director of Women and Family Department, Noriah Ahmad Deputy State Police Commissioner Dato‘ Pahlawan Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim and State Police Management Department Chief SAC Dato Zamani Tan Sri Hamdan.
