Call Helpline Kebajikan for inquiries or complaints on welfare services

KUCHING: Do you have any inquiries or complaints about the welfare services in the state?

You can call Helpline Kebajikan at telephone number 082-514141, the 24-hour hotline of the Welfare Department in the state.

The Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah launched the hotline at a local hotel here yesterday.

In her keynote address, Fatimah explained: “It aims to provide fast, accurate and effective quality services through a phone call.

“In this regard, we need to act fast, our response must be fast and there must be a feeling of urgency when we entertain any inquiries and complaints from the public.

“For example, if there is a person calling us in the morning, we need to give that person the accurate answer on the same day, at least late in the afternoon, not two or three days after he or she has called.

“In addition, the helpline also works to facilitate the public in obtaining information from focal persons and prevent the public from obtaining incorrect information from unauthorised sources,” explained the minister.

Fatimah added that her ministry planned to increase the number of volunteers manning the hotline.

Among the complaints or inquiries that can be raised on the hotline are those on domestic violence, abuse, juvenile delinquency, persons with disabilities (OKU), homelessness, poverty, natural disasters, welfare assistance schemes as well as counselling.
