KOTA SAMARAHAN: 15 Sarawak Civil Service Officers have won In-Service Training Awards to study at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) here. They were given offer letters to pursue the Unimas Master of Science (Counselling) programme under the Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development.

The awards and offer letters were handed over to the officers yesterday by Deputy State Secretary (Performance & Service Delivery Transformation), Datu Dr. Sabariah Putit and Unimas Vice Chancellor, Dato‘ Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, The 30-month postgraduate programme at Unimas, from March 2017 until September 2019, will be conducted during the weekends to suit the needs of the serving officers.

“The decision to award civil servants to undertake the programme under Human Resource Talent Management initiatives highlights the benefits of the Sarawak Civil Servants 2010 to 2020 Action Plan (SCS 10-20) implemented in our state,” said Sabariah.

She added the outcome of this programme would be a civil service manned by talented and wholesome individuals who were professionally trained and developed, highly competent and very dedicated. Meanwhile, Kadim, in his speech, said the implementation of the postgraduate programme was an honour to the university.

“The students will be exposed to contemporary counselling knowledge, skills and experiences by Unimas counselling educators. “The offered programme is structured according to the Standard and Requirements of Training for Counsellors (2011) as set by the Malaysia Board of Counsellors, and Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA),” he said.
