KAPIT : Bukit Goram State Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat and Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi recently attended a “Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat” (Leaders with the People) session jointly organised by JASA Kapit and PBB Kapit at Rumah Seliong, Sungai Belawai Batang Rajang.
At the function, Nanta announced a government grant of RM6000 each to the longhouse along Sungai Belawai, namely, Rumah Nuing, Rumah Marung, Rumah Pioh, Rumah Nuga, Rumah Leyang, Rumah Rengga, Rumah Madau, Rumah Gelu, Rumah Mamat, Rumah Jabang, Rumah Lugan, Rumah Seliong, Rumah Semada, Rumah Rantai and Rumah Lugom to carry out their social activities.
Nanta explained that RM3,000 of the allocation came from him while the remaining came from Jamit.
Present were Senior Private Secretary to the Deputy Minister, Sylvester Insor Lingan, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tapah Ata, Kapit District Officer, Elvis Didit, Superintendent Land and Survey Kapit, Jawan Tumba, JASA Officer, Mohd Matan Yok, Administrative Officer and Kapit District Officer, Wan Mohd Shukri and Robert Anyaw, representatives of the various government departments and Councillor, George Tang.
Also present were Iban community leaders including Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau, Pemanca Enggin Nyipa, Penghulu Pasang Tubah and the village chieftains from the nearby longhouses.
