KUCHING: A total of 347 serving police officers received Jasa Pahlawan Negara award yesterday.

The state-level award presentation ceremony graced by Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun was held at UCSI Hotel here.

“This award is to celebrate and appreciate police officers of all ranks and files for their contributions with service excellence.

“This is an on-going event which depends on the funding and approval, and those recipients today are the ones who will retire soon,” he said.

A total of 1,109 police officers who started serving before 17th October 1990 and are still in service are entitled for the award.

The 347 recipients received their award in the fifth edition, while the remaining 759 officers will receive theirs in the next edition.

Meanwhile, a total of 537 police pensioners have received their awards in the first until fourth edition. Around 12,000 police retirees from Sarawak contingent are yet to receive their awards.

Also present at the event were Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Azman Yusof and Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Seri Mohamad Salleh.
