BELAGA: Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Dr. James Jemut Masing was briefed by
Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), the Ministry of Infrastructure Development
and Transportation (MIDT) and Public Works Department officers yesterday on the latest development in the road
to Murum resettlement and the Luson Laku access road.
Masing, who is the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation, said
there was an urgent need for a 12-km access road to the Bakun lake the locals were currently relying on the only access to the lake
through the Bakun Security Road.
Masing pointed out that a new route would be the answer to the problem in the long run. The access road would cost the government an estimated RM60
million to build.
He was also briefed on the access road to the Murum resettlement areas.
Masing said new roads could attract visitors from other towns to Belaga and spur its growth.
