The government ‘flying doctor service’ was also present.

KUCHING: Two rural services and medical camps to four villages were organised by Sathya Sai Health and Wellness Centre (operated by Divine Will Society) from 11 to 13 May and 24 June in a remote area in Lubok Antu and Serian districts.

The villages visited were Rumah Bangai, Rumah Uyau and Rumah Bawie in Lubok Antu district and Kpg Semada Belatok, Balai Ringin in the Serian district.

The team of more than 40 people included 10 from West Malaysia with 17 medical personnel comprising doctors, dentists, pharmacists, medical officers and nurses.

On the trip to Rumah Bawie, the government’s flying doctor was also providing services with the visiting medical team.

Free medical services with physical examination, blood sugar tests, blood pressure monitoring, vision tests and health talk were also held.

Meanwhile, the team members also installed solar lighting, children play ground, distributing food, daily use items and planting fruit tree seedlings for the villagers.

A four-member group from the Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching was also in the visiting medical team to scout for talented villagers in traditional music and dance. Other activities included distribution of used clothes and toys to the children. Singing and motivational talk were also conducted for the young ones.

More than 160 people in the four villages were screened and given treatment. Due to the remoteness of these villages there is a need to visit them on a regular basis.

Members of the visiting team gained a lot of valuable experience and the joy of making a little difference to the lives of these villagers.
