RM57,000 to build temporary shelter for fire victims

SRI AMAN: Nineteen fire victim families of Rumah Siliver Garik, Kenyungan, Undop Undop Batu Lintang here received the attention of Deputy Home Minister, Dato Masir Kujat who with his entourage visited them at the site of their razed longhouse, recently.

During the visit, Masir, who is also Member of Parliament for Sri Aman also announced an allocation of RM57,000 to build a temporary shelter for the affected families.

He also donated RM1,000 to each family of  the fire victims to enable them to buy essential items and clothes.

“I urged the fire victims to be patient and appeal to corporate associations and individuals to help the fire victims. I also hope that this incident can be a lesson for longhouse residents in Sri Aman to always check the longhouse electrical wiring,” he said.

Meanwhile, Student Volunteer Foundation Executive, Ahmad Hanif Rahman Ali, also joined Masir’s entourage to donate to the fire victims.

“These used clothing were collected by members of the Student Volunteer Foundation from donors in the Klang Valley, Selangor and around Kuala Lumpur before being sent to the longhouse here.

“It is just a coincidence that one of our members is the son of a fire victim,” said Hanif.

Officials from the Sri Aman Immigration Department Office and Sri Aman Civil Defence Force (APM) were also presented aids to the fire victims.
