MUKAH: The people of Sarawak and Malaysia in general are beginning to understand and accept the struggles especially the reformation brought about by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

State PKR chairman Baru Bian attributed that appealing scenario to the patience and determination of the pioneering members in seeing the change in government.

“For me I just joined the party in 2008 and indeed PKR had been here in the state for about a decade earlier.  So we have to thank the pioneering members for their patience and priceless struggles. Now the people have the confidence and as such believe and accept it. That means our struggles were not at all a waste,” he said.

With that scenario, he strongly believed that the forth-coming state election would be in their favour and hoped the members of the party would double the effort from now onwards.

He added the latest development was not only resulting in the change of the federal government, but above all in being governed by a  sincere,  transparent and responsible governance under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition with PKR as one of the components.

Baru, who is also Works Minister, stated this while officiating at the PKR Mukah branch service centre located at Sub-lot No.3, Block E, Lot 613 Block 76 of Mukah Bio-Tech Economic Zone, here, yesterday.

He believed the appointment of Chong Chieng Jen and him to the federal cabinet had manifested that Sarawak would continue to get the special attention of the PH government.

On the opening of the branch, he considered it as a positive sign of the presence of the party in the area and the downpours that occured during the event as the “showers of blessing”.

“To me the opening of the branch is a good sign of PKR’s presence in the area and of course this rainy day during this historic occasion is a blessing for us,” he said.

Baru also revealed that there were requests by members from Tanjung Manis and Igan to have branches or sub-branches formed at their areas.

“For those who wish to open new branches or sub-branches you are very much encouraged,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKR Mukah branch head Abdul Jalil Bujang, in his welcoming speech invited the locals to continue accepting changes.

“The struggles of PKR are now beginning to bear fruits. We should thank the earliest members of the party here. Indeed they were the ones who planted the seeds and now those seads are bearing fruits,” he said.

At the event the minister also received petitions and proposals for projects from the people in the area which was compiled by PKR Mukah branch.

Also present at the function were PKR Mukah branch deputy head Eric Saifuddin Abdullah, vice deputy head Geoffery Ladu and party members.

Upon arrival at the venue, the minister was welcomed with the lions dance as well as Melanau traditional dance.
