KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg called for the need of an ‘investment centre’ to store findings from research.

“A lot of research can be done on our resources in the state, especially biodiversity.

“But the findings must be stored in one centre so that we have a list of findings there.

“Then if any investors want to invest here, they can go to the centre and match their interests with the findings,” said Johari, who is also the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning.

He said this while attending the collaboration agreement signing ceremony between the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) and Mitsubishi at the SBC here yesterday.

As the Minister of Resource Planning and Environment as well, Johari said that there is no sort of structure like that at the moment.

“We will discuss this with the Cabinet with the possibility of establishing that sort of structure,” he said.

Johari also said this with regards to urging SBC to venture into commercialising their research findings to other industries, such as the cosmetics industry.

“Such research findings will have a huge impact on the economy.

“It is also the missing link for commercialisation and marketing,” he said.
