MUKAH: A school teacher who allegedly sodomised his own student for more than fifty times was remanded for seven days to assist in police investigation.

Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Panyau said the 42-year-old man was picked up by the police at a school in Kapit and he would be brought to Mukah to facilitate the investigation.

“The suspect was arrested by a CID team from Ulu Kapit on Tuesday. He is now being remanded for seven days until 21 June,” he said.

Jimmy said the incident came to light after the victim related his ordeal to another teacher who then lodged a report at Mukah District Police Headquarters.

He revealed that the dark moment of the 14-year-old boy started while he was studying at a primary school in Ulu Kapit. He was sodomised by the suspect for 20 times at the teacher’s quarters and a hotel in Kapit between August and December 2015.

He said the suspect continued to look for the victim even though the latter had moved to Mukah.

“The suspect was believed to have sodomised the victim again either at a house or a budget hotel in Kemunyang Sibu. It is learnt that throughout last year the victim had been sodomised by the suspect for more than 30 times.

“This year, from February to May, the despicable act continued in this district where the victim was sodomised by the suspect on several occassions near his school,” he said.
