SUPP shifts focus to protecting state rights

KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) is focusing on protecting Sarawak’s rights and autonomy.

Its president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said due to this, the party’s central working committee (CWC) that met yesterday spent most of its three hour session discussing the party’s strategy to realise a Sarawak for Sarawakians.

Dr Sim, who holds the Local Government and Housing Minister portfolio, said by training its focus on the issue of Sarawak for Sarawakians, yesterday’s meeting of CWC, which meets once a month to discuss routine matters, had specific agenda to work at.

He said the committee members discussed the “latest political scenario and the changes we need to make for the betterment of Sarawakians”.

“We also discuss how to support the state government in its fight for our rights,” he said to the media.

He said SUPP was ready to work with non-governmental organisations and agencies that are “Sarawak-friendly”.

“By working together, we will form a stronger pact to protect our beloved Sarawak,’” he added.
