Three found with drugs detained

KUCHING: A man with 18 previous convictions of drug taking and two females  were arrested in a hotel in Padungan for possession of drugs which could see them being locked up for life upon conviction.

The three were a male aged 54 from Kampung Pinang Jawa, a 27-year-old woman from Bandar Baru Semariang, Sultan Tengah and a 17-year-old female from Jalan Baji Sarikei. All three are unemployed.

Acting on information received, the three were in a hotel room at 10pm on Wednesday when police raided the room.

Found in a bag belonging to one of the  suspects was one transparent plastic package containing three transparent plastic packets with  suspected syabu
drug (2.38 grammes in weight) and one transparent plastic package containing eight transparent plastic packages each containing crystals suspected of syabu drugs (rough weight of 9.41 grammes). Total gross weight of suspected drug syabu seized was 11.79 grammes with an estimated worth of about RM2,200.

The 27-year-old has six previous drug cases and the 17-year-old girl has none. However, both the females’ urine tests were negative of drug while the man’s test was positive.

All of them were detained to assist in investigations.
