MIRI: Federal civil servants are free to take part in Sarawak government events, State Secretary Datuk Jaul Samion has made this clear.

“There’s no policy banning them from attending any of our events.

“I hope this clears up any confusion,” he said on Tuesday during a dinner after a local authority meeting here.

Citing Monday’s Malaysia Day celebration, Jaul attributed its smooth running to the teamwork between federal and state.

On another note, he urged state civil servants to be dedicated and honest.

“We must deliver the best service to the rakyat (people). The service we render reflects the government’s image.”

He added that they must be well informed about the government’s initiatives.

“Help the state government…create effective communication between the government and the people so that they understand better the initiatives being implemented.”

Jaul’s deputy Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, Deputy State Secretary for Socioeconomic Transformation Datuk Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy State Attorney-General Saferi Ali and Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi also attended the dinner.
